What types of personal information do we collect and how do we use it?

As described in detail below, we collect and process personal information to operate an authentication service, improve security and provide customer support.

Account registration information. When you create an account with Springdoo, we will request some personal information, including your first and last name, your country and your email address.

Springdoo account contents and usage. The contents of your Springdoo account are stored and maintained on our servers in order to provide the service. Our computers process the information in your account for various purposes, including formatting and displaying the information to you, backing up your account, and other purposes relating to offering you Springdoo. Our employees and agents do not normally access the contents of any account, including any audio, video and text messages that you send or receive, unless you specifically request them to do so (for example, if you are having technical difficulties accessing your account) or if required by law, to maintain our system, or to protect Springdoo or the public. You do, however, agree that we may monitor, edit or disclose your personal information, including the content of your messages, if required to do so in order to comply with any valid legal process (such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order), or legitimate governmental request, to investigate a complaint or as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy and the Springdoo Terms of Service. SUBJECT TO THESE LIMITED EXCEPTIONS, NO SPRINGDOO EMPLOYEE OR AGENT WILL EVER READ AN EMAIL, OR CLICK ON A URL TO LISTEN OR VIEW AN AUDIO OR VIDEO MESSAGE, SENT OR RECEIVED BY YOU.
We also may collect information about the use of your account, such as how much storage you are using, how often you log in and other information related to your registration and use of Springdoo. We may also track messages in your account to record the time a recipient clicked on a URL to listen to a message. We do this purely as a service, to let you know when the recipient listened to your message. We will never click on a URL to gain access to an audio/video/text message that you send or receive, except with your permission or as otherwise permitted in this Privacy Policy or in our Terms of Service. Although we may publish aggregated information relating to the use of our services by all users, we will never sell, rent or share your personal information, including your Springdoo address or audio/video/text message content, with any third parties for marketing purposes without your express permission.

Cookies & log information

Cookies. Cookies. A cookie is a small data file that our server sends to your computer when you first visit the Springdoo website. We may also use the cookies to collect aggregated information about the use of Springdoo to maintain, analyze and improve the service.

We do not use cookies to store information such as credit card numbers, telephone numbers or other sensitive information. A cookie is not an executable program and cannot do anything to harm your computer.

We believe our cookies improve the quality of our services. If you prefer, however, you can reset your browser so that it refuses all cookies, or notifies you when your computer receives a cookie. In addition, we log the unique ID provided by our cookie.

In addition, we log this information for internal business purposes. For example, this log information helps us determine how well our services are working so we can continually improve the quality of Springdoo. The log information is also important for security, audit, quality improvement, and other internal business purposes.

Privacy in email ("SpringMail")

In personal email communications, there has always been, and always should be, an expectation of privacy between the sender and the intended recipients of a message, enabling open communication with friends, colleagues, family, and others.

Privacy is compromised, however, if personal information or private email content is shared with parties other than the sender and intended recipients without their consent. We do not share or reveal SpringMail content or personal information with third parties, except in the limited circumstances mentioned in this Privacy Policy. SpringMail messages remain strictly between the sender and intended recipients, even when only one of the parties is a Springdoo user.

Of course, the law and common sense dictate some exceptions. These exceptions include requests by users that our support staff access their audio, video or text messages in order to diagnose problems; when we are required by law to do so; and when we are compelled to access or disclose personal information because we reasonably believe it is necessary in order to protect the rights, property or safety of Springdoo, its users and the public. These exceptions are standard across the industry and are necessary for email providers to assist their users and to meet legal requirements.

When we may disclose your personal information

If you are responsible for referring someone to Springdoo, we may disclose your first name to the person you have referred to Springdoo, when that person signs up to Springdoo. Beyond this, we do not disclose your personal identifying information, or the content of Springdoo messages, to third parties unless we believe we are required to do so by law or have a good faith belief that such access, preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, (b) enforce the Springdoo Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues (including, without limitation, the filtering of spam), (d) respond to user support requests, or (e) protect the rights, property or safety of Springdoo, its users and the public.

When joining Springdoo you may choose to use the "invite a friend" feature to allow Springdoo to send an email to your friends. The friends you invite will be receive an email automatically which will include your first and last name.

SpringMail
As a standard email protocol, when you send a Springdoo SpringMail from your Springdoo account, Springdoo includes your user name in the header of the email. If the recipient of your Springdoo SpringMail sends a reply, the recipient will be able to view your email address in the properties field of the SpringMail.

SpringCaster
The SpringCaster designed to enable users to publish messages to web pages including social networks. So any message you publish using The SpringCaster may potentially be viewed by any person anywhere in the world and should not be considered private.

Transfer of information

Personal information collected by Springdoo may be stored and processed in the USA, Monaco, New Zealand or any other country in which Springdoo Limited or its agents maintain facilities. By using Springdoo, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country.

We reserve the right to transfer your personal information, and messages stored on our servers, in the event of a transfer of ownership of Springdoo, such as acquisition by or merger with another company. We will notify you before we transfer information and messages to a transferee only if such transferee has a materially different privacy policy.

Updating your information

You can change your Springdoo account settings at any time in the "Account" section of your Springdoo account. You can add, remove and change your contacts details. You can recall and delete any Springdoo message you have published at any time by going into "Messages" and changing the message status for a specific message. Your message URL link will still appear at the place where it has been published but our server will deactivate the URL link to the audio, video or text message the moment you recall the message.

How do we safeguard your information?

Our intent is to strictly protect the security of your personal information and carefully protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure information we collect from you, including the use of encryption when collecting or transferring personal and / or sensitive information.

We focus significant time and resources to ensure that our employees and agents can not misuse user accounts and personal information. However, we do authorize a limited number of employees and agents to access user accounts. We train our employees and agents about the importance of maintaining user privacy. We record their access to user accounts and personal information. Our employees are also contractually required to access accounts and log data only for quality, security, legal, audit, and other internal business purposes. Under no circumstance will our employees and agents access your audio, video or text messages, whether you are the sender or the recipient, except in the limited circumstances specified in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.

We implement technology and procedures to try to make sure that external parties cannot access or modify users' personal information on our servers. These technologies and procedures include industry standard methods as well as our own proprietary methods. Each Springdoo message creates a unique URL that links to the message on our server. Any person that knows the URL code will have access to the message.

How do we notify you of changes to our Privacy Policy?

We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy. If we make any significant changes, we will notify you by posting a notice of such changes on the Springdoo website.

Data Retention

We may keep one or more backup copies of audio/video/text messages so that we can recover messages and restore accounts in case of errors or system failure. Even if you have deleted your messages or your account is no longer active, messages may remain on our backup systems for some period of time. This is standard practice in the audio/video/email publishing industry. We will make reasonable efforts to remove deleted information from our systems as quickly as is practical.

Enforcement

If you believe for any reason that we have not adhered to our Privacy Policy, please contact us and we will act promptly to investigate, correct as appropriate, and advise you of the correction. Please identify the issue as a Privacy Policy concern in your communication to us.
